World Breastfeeding Week - A Local Reference for Moms

August 1, 2022 1amMary Pust

Breastfeeding is quite possibly the hardest job I have ever had. While I was blessed to breastfeed both my boys for 18 months, I see and hear the struggle from moms almost every day. The expectations. The time commitments. The limitations. So WHY do we celebrate World Breastfeeding Week?

The theme for this year is "Educate & Support". I am NOT a certified lactation consultant but my goal is to inform and direct you to the right people and places. I'm so lucky I met a few of the people on the following list and continue to work with them to support the moms in our community.

The state of Montana lists all certified Lactation Consultants. You can find all the providers in your area by clicking: Montana Lactation Consultants and La Leche League Groups/Leaders. *Unsure date of publication

For local moms, here are a few of our favorite options:

  • Billings Clinic Birth Center: Their lactation consultant's offices as well as two comfortable, private nursing rooms are located in A Mother's Place, located on the 1st floor of the Family Birth Center, next to Pediatrics. Call 406-238-5083 or 800-332-7156 if you have any questions or their walk in hours are Monday - Friday, 8 am to 4:30 pm
  • Children's Clinic of Billings: You will find Lesli Gould! This is not a walk in clinic. Check out their website for quick and easily accessible information. You can also email Leslie directly at: childrensclinicbabies@gmail.com or by Phone at: 530-802-0975.
  • Montana La Leche League: This group is led by experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers and mothers-to-be with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns. In Billings you can call (406) 272-2055, email at billingslalecheleague@gmail.com or find them on Facebook, “La Leche League of Montana.

We hope you found this blog resourceful. If you need a community of other moms to talk about ALL THE THINGS, breastfeeding included, learn more about our classes and events. We are here to support you on whatever journey you take.

XOXO,

Mary Pust
