Finding childcare for your family can be a struggle. That is why the FIT4MOM Team continues to host the Billings Preschool Fair every January. The perfect time to shop around as enrollments begin to open for the following semester. There are a number of things to consider when looking for childcare.
1) What is your budget? The cost of childcare continues to climb. With over 40 schools' in one location you can compare prices AND talk to a number of local non-profits who can direct you towards Grants and family funding.
2) How much childcare do you need? Some people need to find childcare for the entire work day. Some just want a few hours a few days a week. These are some common options we find when shopping around.
- Full-Time Daycare
- Part-Time Daycare mixed with Preschool (Some schools offer extra care before or after Preschool but that is not common, or they are a daycare with designated time/space for learning)
- Preschool Only: 2-4 hours a day for 2-5 days a week
3) What style of learning are you interested in? Our community has so many amazing options to pick from.
- Private Christian Based School
- Montessori
- Outdoor Play
- Fine Arts
- Play-Based Learning
- Pre-Kindergarten Prep
- Etc...
4) Other things to consider or ask:
- How far of a commute are you willing to do?
- What style of discipline does the staff believe in?
- How often do the kids play outside?
- How large is the class size?
- Are there volunteer hours or extra projects the parents need to be involved in?
- Does my child need to be potty trained to attend?
